Review: What's Left of Me by Amanda Maxlyn

Synopsis

Life works in mysterious ways.

Four years ago I became known as the girl with cancer.

I refuse to cry.

And I refuse to give in.

A relationship with a man is the last thing I’m looking for right now, but one night with Parker changes everything. He is persistent, and he knows what he wants. Me.

He doesn’t treat me like I’m fragile.

But he doesn’t know, and I’m not ready to tell him.

What if it changes everything?

Tragedy found me when I was seventeen.

Love found me when I was twenty-one.

My name is Aundrea McCall, and this is my journey

 Jenny's Review

Five days later and I’m still reeling from What’s Left of Me by Amanda Maxlyn. I really don’t know how to put into words how amazing this book is. I can’t even pick up another book because this story is permanently entwined with my soul. But damn it, I will try to write this review, I hope it doesn’t sound like a jumble mess. Here I go...

Since the age of 17, Aundrea have been fighting cancer, not once but twice. She wants to live a normal life without feeling pity from anyone or feeling helpless.  In an attempt to feel normal she goes out with to a bar with a couple of friends. While at the bar, she meets Parker…
.
Parker and Aundrea meets at a bar and have a very hot one night stand, or at least that what Aundrea believed it would be. When her brother-in-law invites the new veterinarian and partner to their house, she is shocked to find out that it is Parker and he is looking more gorgeous then she remembers. She initially tells him that it was a one-time deal and nothing will happen between them again but Parker has other plans and throughout the story Parker shows that he is not given up on Aundrea while she tries to get her cancer a secret from him.

Parker is fantastic and is probably one of my top favorite book boyfriends. He is determined that be with Aundrea despite her reluctance. He is persistent but in the most subtle way. He is not overbearing. He is charming and patient but also knows that what he feels for Aundrea is real.

The strength that Aundrea have while dealing with cancer is unbelievable. Most people would have given up and not be able to deal with the pain of not only cancer but the pain that it hold on the people that are in your life, who I may add is an amazing support system to her. Aundrea story is about survival and her fight against the odd but also trying to be her true self with Parker and not having her cancer get in the way of their blossoming relationship.

The epilogue made me scream at 1am in the morning 3 times. That alone was emotional and left me wondering what is next for Aundrea and Parker. I can’t wait to read the next book.

What’s Left on Me by Amanda Maxlyn is a touchingly, raw and beautiful story.  It’s one of those books that hold on to you. A story that will resonant with you forever and you will find yourself reading it over and over. It had everything, fun moments, tender moments, happy moments, sad moments and those moments where you have to stop for a moment to get your bearings because you are crying from the pain that Aundrea feels but in the end what the story remind you is there is a possibility for love through pain. Love, love, love this book.

I am first and foremost an avid reader! I love to read anything romance from paranormal, young/new adult, contemporary, and even yes, (wide eyes) erotic/BDSM.
