Hold You Against Me can be read as a standalone but I strongly suggest you read the prequel of Tough Love

I didn't know what to expect when I read the blurb of Hold You Against Me. Since I have never read a Skye Warren novel (I know, what the hell was I waiting for?), the blurb is what drawn me in. A bit vague but it made me wonder where this story could lead. And man, once I started reading I was drawn in like a moth to the flame.

For years Clara thought Giovanni, the boy she loved and helped her escape with her sister, Honor from the mafia world was dead. Clara could never really get over the feeling like his death was her fault. What Clara doesn't know is that Giovanni is very much alive and has worked his way up the ranks. He needs to solidify his place in the mafia and he needs Clara to do it.

As the story progress, you realized that the boy that Clara knew is no longer there. Clara learn the pain that he went through to help her and her sister escape. And what contributes to this dark demeanor and that forces from their past are lurking, ready to attack at any moment. And the secrets that not only effect Giovanni but also there are things that Clara have never let anyone know. Clara is conflicted by her feeling for Giovanni, one minute he is very much a brutal mafioso but there are also the time she can see pockets of the boy she once loved.

Hold You Against Me is not your conventional second chance romance. It is dark and intense. Your heart will break, not only for Giovanni but for the things that Clara has kept secret for so long. However, as much as Giovanni can be a douche, you know that he cares for Clara. And I can't help but root for them. That they will be able to weather the storm. The storyline was refreshing and different. It gripped you from beginning to end. Skye Warren definitely have a way with words. You feel like you are a part of the story. After reading Hold You Against Me I immediately downloaded the first three books in the Stripped series. I absolutely loved the story. And hope that I will read more of Giovanni and Clara's story.
