Review:
Everything that I've read from Danielle Allen have always been amazing
and she has done it again with Love Discovered in New York, the first
book of The Washington Triplet Series.
Can I just say how much I
loved Mya Washington? Sassy, confident, with a little bit of attitude
and a hint of vulnerability, she was probably one of my favorite
characters to read because she reminded me of myself.
Mya is the
youngest of the Washington triplet. Considered the rebel, she move to
her own beat and doesn't care what anyone thinks, which I loved. Feeling
betrayed by her father and keeping her distance from her sisters, she
is not quick to let any man into her life. In walk Colton Davis. When
Mya and Colton are together I could fell the sparks fly from my kindle.
Their connection is instantaneous and although Mya feels something for
him, she keeps him at arms length, refusing to give up her heart.
I
loved Colton. He was the not pushy with Mya. He followed her lead,
allowing her to dictate their relationship but also showing her, in
subtle ways, that he was interested in much more.
This story is
about the power to accept the people that you love can make mistakes and
opening yourself to love. A fantastic read!
Being
the oldest Washington Triplet hasn’t been easy for Marisa Washington. Labeled
the “good one” at a young age embedded the burden she strived to build true.
She graduated at the top of her class, never caused her parents trouble, and
even settled down in their hometown of Chicago with her college boyfriend.
Her life was “perfect”, at least in the eyes of others. But when her mom
unexpectedly dies, Marisa’s eyes open for the first time. She leaves her
boyfriend of four years and takes a job in Alaska to gain the freedom and
individuality she’s craved. After all, what would she gain by sticking around
Chicago? She discovered her perfect family isn’t so perfect, and everyone she
cares for left her.
Starting a new life in Anchorage, Alaska, she’s unable to escape her family’s
hold when her dad’s wedding announcement comes a mere six months after her
mother’s death. Attempts to contact her sisters, in order to face this
together, are unsuccessful, leaving her feeling even more alone.
Her family issues have to be pushed aside when her employer sends her and three
others to a team building retreat in King’s Gate. It’s the last thing Marisa
wants to do, until everywhere she turns, she finds…Zach Greer.
Review:
After reading Mya's story
in Love Discovered in New York, I was anxious to read about Marisa in
Love Grows in Alaska by Michelle Lynn.
Marisa is the oldest of
the Washington Triplet, always considered the good one, when her mother
pass and she learns of her father's betrayals, she decides to leave
Chicago and make a life for herself in Alaska. Marisa moved to Alaska
with a lot of the insecurity her ex left her with. when she meets Zach
at a work retreat, there's an instant connection between them. Zach
helps her work out with her insecurities and she helps him with the self
doubt he has within himself.
Marisa learning to overcome the
insecurities she has and opening herself to trusting Zach was great to
read. Michelle did a wonderful job of telling Marisa's story. Can't wait
to read the final novella.
The Quiet One
Mikaela Washington,
the middle Triplet, has always been labeled the quiet one. Her parents claim
her as the introvert or just shy. Of course she was, what other role could she
take? All the others had been fulfilled.
Going away to
college with her sisters was always the plan until unforeseen circumstances
push Mikaela into a dark corner she can’t get out of. Her sisters think she’s
just being more unusual than normal and her dad barely notices. The only person
she can trust and confide in is her mom.
She stays back and
lives at home with her parents. These years are difficult, but she manages to
find a career and go to therapy. During this time she learns her family home is
not what it seems. She sees and hears things that her sisters know nothing about.
Then when her mom suddenly dies she’s left to deal with not only her tragedy,
but also the secrets of her family.
Finally Mikaela
realizes it’s time… time to move on, live on her own like her sisters and try
to start new. When she moves to California she finds the job of her dreams and
the man of her dreams attached to it… Ryan Chambers.

Review:
I loved this book and I'm sad to end my journey with the Washington triplet but this was a great way to end the series.
Loved found in California by Melissa Rolka is the third and final novella of the Washington Triplets series. We met Mikaela (aka Mik) the middle triplet have always been labeled the quiet one. But something tragic happens to her in high school that left her alienating herself from her sisters and becoming distant from her family.
Melissa had a wonderful way of writing Mik story. In a series of flashbacks, we are able to see how she meets Ryan but also how she deals with the horrible thing that has happened to her, dealing with the loss her her mother, as well as the hurt she feels from her father. Ryan, was by far my favorite guy in the Washington triplet series. He was the rock that Mik need to face her demons and he loved her unconditionally, even when he didn't know the full extent of what she was dealing with. When Mik was finally ready to open herself up, not only did she heal herself but she was able to bring her sisters together.
This was such a great series. To get three different authors to write these novellas about these three sisters and get a different feel from each story, was a wonderful change. Absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend it.
